Adding recipes

How do I add a recipe?

1. In Menu Costing, click Add New Recipe in the category the dish belongs to.
2. Enter the recipe name, an image and description if you like, the sell price (as it appears on your menu, GST-inclusive), and how many portions the recipe makes. Portions matter: every cost and margin figure is shown per portion, so a batch recipe that makes 4 serves should say 4.
3. Click Add Ingredients and search your products. Add each ingredient and enter the amount the recipe uses, in whatever unit you cook in — grams, ml, each, even "bunch".
4. Save. The recipe page now shows your cost per portion, profit per portion and food-cost % against your target.

Each ingredient row shows its share of the plate cost, worked out from the amount you use and the product's pack size and price — see Purchase unit size and the AI suggest button for how that maths works and how to correct it.
