Price changes, cost history and the repricing queue

Open Pantry keeps a running history of what every dish costs you, and tells you when a supplier price change has quietly eaten a dish's margin.

Price changes feed

The Price Changes page (and the "Recent price changes" strip on the Menu Costing home) lists every ingredient price movement: the date, the direction and size of the change, old and new price, and the source — an invoice you checked off, a supplier updating their price list, or a reprice you accepted. Filter by increases or decreases, filter by source, or search for an ingredient.

Cost history

Each time something changes a recipe's cost, a snapshot is recorded (at most once per recipe per day, plus an automatic weekly snapshot of every active recipe). Those snapshots power the 90-day sparklines on the recipe tiles and the "Cost over time" chart on each recipe page. New recipes show empty charts until they have at least two snapshots — that's normal.

The "Needs repricing" queue

When a cost rise pushes a dish's food-cost % over its target — including a rise buried inside a sub-recipe — the dish lands in Needs repricing. Each row shows:

• What changed and where it came from — e.g. "Beef chuck up 8% via INV-88213".
• The dish's food-cost % now, against its target.
• The current menu price and a suggested new price (GST-inclusive, so it's comparable to your menu).

Accept new price updates the recipe's menu price and closes the alert in one click. Dismiss clears it without changing anything. Each dish only ever has one open alert — a second price rise updates the existing one rather than piling up — and if a dish's cost drifts back under target by itself, the alert resolves on its own.
