Delivery alerts: turning on browser push notifications
Quick answer: After you place an order, the order-placed screen asks Want a heads-up when this delivery is on its way? Tap Yes, notify me and allow notifications when your browser asks. You can turn them on or off any time under My Account → Notifications.
What you’ll be notified about
Browser push notifications are used for two things only:
- Your delivery is on the way — when your order is the next stop on the driver’s run, with an ETA.
- Time to reorder — when you’re likely due to order from a supplier, based on your usual ordering pattern. At most once a week per supplier, and it resets as soon as you place an order.
Invoices, marketing and account emails are never sent as push notifications. Your email notifications carry on as normal.
Turning them on after an order
- Place an order. On the Your order has been placed! screen, look for the card Want a heads-up when this delivery is on its way?
- Tap Yes, notify me.
- Choose Allow when your browser asks.
You’ll see You’re set for delivery alerts. Tap Not now if you’d rather not — we won’t ask again for 30 days, and we stop asking after you’ve said no twice. The card doesn’t appear if notifications are already on, or if you’ve switched them off in settings.
Managing them in your account
Select the ☰ menu button, then My Account → Notifications. Under Web push notifications, the Browser push notifications switch turns both alerts on or off. A label shows the state:
- On — each device receiving alerts is listed, with Remove to stop just that one.
- On — not on this device — the switch is on, but this browser isn’t set up. Click Enable on this device.
- Blocked in browser — see below.
- Not supported here — this browser can’t receive push notifications.
Turning the switch off stops every alert on every device. Removing one device leaves the others on.
If notifications are blocked
If you (or your browser) said no earlier, the browser won’t ask again. To allow them:
- Click the lock icon beside the address bar.
- Choose Permissions → Notifications.
- Switch to Allow, then reload the page.
iPhone and iPad
iOS only delivers notifications to web apps added to your Home Screen. Add Open Pantry to your Home Screen first, open it from there, then turn notifications on.
